First of all I would like to wish you a Happy New Year. I hope you had a great time with your family and friends.
I have had enough of these “NEW YEAR NEW ME” quotes already. This is the wrong mentality to have when thinking about how you look. It sets a negative mindset as you didn't like what was there before. From now on let's make a conscious effort to improve rather than change.
Also the “NEW YEAR NEW ME” philosophy is setting you up for failure. It leads you to perform a 180 on all of your habits and behaviours. It’s unrealistic to change everything at once with a click of a finger. You should concentrate on making one small change at a time and nailing it.
Everyone is capable of improving by 1% in some way every day. If you view the small incremental changes you make as building blocks, overtime you can stack them on top of each other to create something big. There will be less pressure this way and new habits will stick like glue.
I would like to stress the fact that this is not a competition. Success is personal to you and you should be the one to define it. If your fitness is improving and you are feeling happier then job done! Don't worry about how much someone has lifted or how far they have run.
Good luck everyone.
